Chicka chicka boom boom! Will there be enough room?
There will always be room for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom on every child's bookshelf!
The 26 characters in this rhythmic, rhyming baby book are a lowercase alphabet with attitude. "A told b, and b told c, 'I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree'"--which probably seemed like a good idea until the other 23 members of the gang decided to follow suit. Lois Ehlert's chunky block illustrations show the luxuriant green palm standing straight and tall on the first page, but it begins to groan and bend under its alphabetical burden. First the coconuts fall off, then ("Chicka chicka... BOOM! BOOM!") all the letters also end up in a big heap underneath. A very simple board-book version stops there, but this original text goes on to introduce the helping hands of the 26 uppercase "mamas and papas and uncles and aunts." Great book and CD for young kids:
This was one of my kids' favorites, especially with the reading by Ray Charles. It is a great rhyming story that helps kids learn letters and is complemented by fun silly pictures. All in all a favorite gift for families with young children.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom:
My kids loved this book so I was so happy to be able to get it for my granddaughter. The CD was an extra plus.

Every literate adult was conscripted to read this catchy alphabet book. By the time we left, the little one hadn't listened to the CD yet. We adults listened to part of it. Was expecting some great jazz considering the musician listed, but he merely read the story, then a group of kids did a musical rendition of it. CD was a little disappointing, but the... more info
