A sweet little cat drives a man to insanity and murder....
The grim death known as the plague roams a masquerade ball dressed in red....
A dwarf seeks his final revenge on his captors....
A sister calls to her beloved twin from beyond the grave....
Prepare yourself. You are about to enter a world where you will be shocked, terrified, and, though you'll be too scared to admit it at first, secretly thrilled. Here are four tales -- The Black Cat, The Masque of the Red Death, Hop-Frog, and The Fall of the House of Usher -- by the master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe. The original tales have been ever so slightly dismembered -- but, of course, Poe understood dismemberment very well. And he would shriek in ghoulish delight at Gris Grimly's gruesomely delectable illustrations that adorn every page. So prepare yourself. And keep the lights on.

Wow!:
I love Edgar Allan Poe, and I love art. That is why I bought this book. I had never even heard of this artist before, but now I am definitely a fan. His illustrations are dark and creepy, just like the poetry. It is a quick read, but I go back to look at the images every once in a while. The style of art is perfect for the subject matter, and if Gris Grimly did another book like this I would definitely buy it! Highly recommended.

Beautifully Dark:
Though it may look like your average children's book do not be fooled- these are some of Edgar Allan Poe's finest (darkest) short stories brought to life by Gris Grimly's beautiful illustrations. I purchased this book as an introduction to Poe for my 13 year old goth nephew and he adores it.
A Grim Interpretation of classic Poe:
This is a must have for any Poe fan!
You may already own the stories here, but it's worth it for the art alone. The classic stories combined with Gris Girmly's artwork are truly amazing.
There was one particular image I recall from reading The Fall of the House of Usher that was such a loving tribute to Vincent Price it really moved me. In fact, I ended up writing Mr Grimly an email to tell him how much I appreciated his work and to ask about the possibilty of a companion book which he hinted... more info
