It is not a "how to" or in-depth discussion of illustration or story line, and it is not meant to be. It is well written, illustrated, and organized and will give you a general sense of what goes into this type of book.

This wonderful book walks you through the world of illustrating children's books. The many colorful examples show you that there are no limits to illustrating styles and materials. A good practical companion book is "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Publishing Children's Books" by Harold Underdown.

This is an excellent, easy read for those interested in illustrating children's books. I bought this book along with Writing with Pictures (which I do not recommend) and found this to be an incredibly valuable resource for someone NEW to the field or illustration student.
