I bought this book when I first began putting together newsletters. It is a simple, easy to follow guide and well worth the read. It covers all the basics with samples throughout the book, covering everything from defining the goal of your newsletter to formatting and mailing services.
Good things come in used packages.:
I bought this book sight unseen because my boss asked me to publish a newsletter. Well what unfolded before my eyes was a very clear manual that basically walks you through the steps of newsletter publishing. I agree with the other reviewer, the key concept is audience, audience, audience. Knowing that will save you a lot of time, money , and effort and keep you from having your newsletter ending up as wrapper in your favorite hardware. One of the best used books i have ever invested money on.
Anyone who edits a newsletter ought to read this book.:
Mark Beach understands that editing a newsletter is a process, not a goal in itself. He encourages people to assess their audience -- their real audience -- and adjust their content to meet that need. It's a great hands-on manual. I have the 1988 edition; I'm sure the newer version updates all the latest electronic doo-dads (they're great). But the key is recognizing who you are writing for and what they need. Mark offers clear tips, understandable options and usable advice. This is a winner.
