If you are considering the alternatives of self-publishing or going with a traditional offset printing process, then you should get a copy of Johnson's book. The most valuable aspect is the book is printed using different weight papers and different processes. It is one thing to read a description of 50# or 60# paper, and another to actually have an example in your hand. The strongest element of this book is the samples of different printing technologies and papers included. That alone is worth the price, even if you already know all of the rest. If you have done any amount of research on publishing, you probably DO know the rest.
