Junk!!! I would give Zero star if I could:
I could not believe such low quality and bulky design of the dictionary when I received it. I bought it for my kid to check definition and pronunciation. It did not work well from day 1. Keys were stuck all time and turn off every moment when you have slight motion or shaking. I fixed the battery cover to solve part of the problem. After 9 months, it died finally.
This is a piece of junk. Do not waste your money and time on it. On the other hand, shopping on Amazon is always super.
Terrible:
I ordered this item because my father has one that he had bought over 20 years ago and which is still going strong today - I think it still has the original batteries in it! So I thought I'd get a new Franklin electronic dictionary with the "speaking" feature. Like always with Amazon, the ordering and shipping processes were a breeze, my new dictionary arrived promptly and I was eager to put it through its paces. My wife bought this same model dictionary about 10 years ago. We have both found it very useful and reliable. We purchased this one for our grandson based on our good experience with the previous one...which still works just fine. He is really thrilled with it and has been showing me some of the capabilities like the "learn" color key feature to list new words learned. The "say" feature is very helpful to him to get the correct pronunciation when he encounters a new word. I find it much quicker for myself... more info
