There is no way that this bookcase's original price was $402.56. It's not even real wood; it's that "pressed board" thing. Sometimes on amazon you really do find impossible-to-believe deals, but in this case, you get what you pay for. The item's value is misrepresented. It took me 4 1/2 hours to assemble it. I am a single woman who has assembled only a bench -- which required only an allen wrench (provided!) -- and a console table. I have no tools other than a four-way screwdriver. Nice looking piece of furniture:
It's a bit narrower than I expected, but very nice looking. It turned out to be the perfect size for my son's VHS and DVD collection. I'll probably buy another one to get more shelf space.
Great stuff:
I've yet to get a negative comment on this. I recently purchased a house and two of these for the small library of books I have (both are 95%+ full). I was impressed by the actual quality of this, as were other members of my family. They look a lot more expensive than they really are and are sturdier than they may need to be. Assembly is easy as well. Not sure I would necessarily use them as my "best" shelves, but they are good for if you want to make a library for your house and want to do it... more info
Extremely disappointed:
Incredibly disappointed. Product supposedly marked down from $300, but I have bought better bookcases for much less. I at least expected for this price and based on the products picture, that the back of the bookcase was wood, not just thin plastic veneer. Plus the fact that the assembly directions are not great, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Future buyers beware! My worst purchase online
