Minor chip on one piece of wood:

Same here. Just got the book case and there was a minor chip on one piece of the wood. Pretty noticeable since that piece is one of the shelves. For the price, it's still a good deal. Overall, the book case is sturdy and looks nice.

Great value!!:

This is a SOLID bookcase -- thick, sturdy shelves, well constructed, nicely finished. Very easy to assemble. Mine arrived with minor blemishes on one piece (hence only 4 stars), but in view of the fact that I only paid about 15% of list price (including shipping), I can't complain.
