Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical IF Macro Zoom Lens with Built in Motor for Nikon DSLR Cameras (B001DYC0CS) - Reviews and Prices
With the advent of the latest 15X zoom lens from Tamron, the pioneer of high power zoom lenses, the high power zoom lens has steadily evolved from a 7.1X to a 10.7X to a 13.9X and now to the world's largest zoom ratio of 15X by combining advanced high power zoom design technologies accumulated by Tamron since 1992. The lens covers an angle of view equivalent to that of a 28mm wideangle to a 419mm ultra telephoto with just one lens, letting the user capture once-in-the-lifetime images of panoramic landscape images or close-up pictures of children smiling, without having to get too close to the subject and without having to change lenses. For Nikon Digital SLRs.

one lens does it all!!:
I bought this lens after having had a chance to try it out for my granddaughter's graduation. I had borrowed the Tamron 18-270 VC lens to photograph the event after some disappointing results at an earlier graduation with my trusty Nikon 18-135mm. While conditions at the graduation weren't great (low light so I had to shoot at a very high ISO and we were pretty far away so I was shooting zoomed out to the max), I got a lot more keeper photos than from the 18-135. The vibration control feature made the big... more info
Horrible:
This was a horrible lense. I purchased it as a replacement for my nikon 18-55 & 55-200 lense. I shot half a soccer game with the Tamron and the other half with the Nikon lense and the Nikon was WAY better than the Tamron. The Tamron had trouble focusing and the movement on the lense was almost sticky. I am going to return it because this lense is not worth the money.
Surprisingly good!:
I am a keen Nikon shooter, having owned a D40x and D200, and currently shooting with a D3 and D300s. This is the first time to purchase a non-Nikkor lens (and I have the professional range 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, the 80-400, and some others including the 105mm micro and a 50mm f1.4 prime for studio work. My wife uses the D300s a lot, and wanted a lens that could cover a wide range without a need for changing. I had the 18-200 on my D200 and that was quite a nice walk-around lens, so it was a... more info
Great all around lens:
I've been using this lens now for about 8 months and I'm finding it attached to my 300s quite a bit while traveling. I read quite a few reviews about this lens before I purchased it and was amazed at the the differences in opinion out there. I have found this lens to far exceed my expections. It is built very well, it's light and feels very balanced on the camera. The image quality is sharp and amazed me with it's low light image quality considering the lens is slow at 3.5-6.3. The VC works very well but... more info
