If you're a writer, you need a thesaurus. At least in English, good writing
requires that you vary your word choices now and then (this is less the case in
smaller languages), and English is just too large to fit completely inside
anyone's brain. When you need another way to say the same thing, or when you
need a slightly different word than the one that comes to mind, the thesaurus is
there to help you.
