Web design isn't what it used to be. Back in, say, 1999 or 2000, web design was THE place to be. Salaries were incredible, and the designers were oh so cool.

The economy came back to earth, and dot bombs (as they call them now) in many cases did not make it on the trip. However, the web is still here, and not only is it here, now it's beginning to evolve into something a bit more realistic and sustainable. And yes, there is a need for web design, a field that didn't even exist a few years ago.
